Getting to Know Us: the MendoFutures Operations Team
Professional Life: Susan recently retired, after 26 years, from the Mendocino County Health and Human Services Agency where she worked, primarily in Social Services, as a social worker, supervisor, manager and director. Earlier in her career she worked for non-profit mental health agencies in the Bay Area as a counselor and program coordinator. She has an MA in Counseling and a BA in Psychology and now has her own consulting business. She also has been teaching in the Human Services Program at Mendocino College for the past 7 years, where she particularly enjoys cultivating student interest in the field of human services.
Community Life: Susan and her husband Frank have lived in Mendocino County for over 30 years, and raised four children here. She is interested in working with other Mendocino County residents who are committed to making Mendocino County an even better place to live than it is today.
MendoFutures Life: Shortly after her retirement from the County, Susan joined MendoFutures and has been an active participant in the Mental Health Coalition project. She is an advocate for community services that assist individuals and families in improving their quality of life. "Over the years it has become very clear to me that change is constant and that we can bring about positive change only if we value quality relationships as much as we do our desired outcomes. I am excited about the work we are doing in MendoFutures. I say, let's do it!"
